Spelled out across fish scales or eaten into leaves, messages appear in Florida’s flora and fauna in the form of evolutionary regurgitation. These messages feature banal phrases, byproducts of both human culture and capitalism, that become literally embedded in the surrounding wildlife. From the perspective of an imaginary future naturalist, I illustrate the bizarre convergence of humanity and nature, in which our ridiculousness is reflected back at us. In these drawings, I refute the notion that we are separate from nature, but rather that we are co-participants in an endless cycle of entropy, evolution, and adaptation. As Above, So Below.
